Praise God. I am encouraged to read this blog, as I'm all the way from Adelaide. I have never been to W.A, but a friend of mine wants to make a street preaching road trip there one day. Thankyou Benjamin, I to believe that Christians can not be possessed by demons but can be harrassed. I was apart of this group, believe it when I say they too (setright) started as a home church. It was wonderful until they began to practice delivering me of demons. It started with a demon (the name escapes me) then I was told that the demon Pharoah was stopping funds coming from my husband who passed away two years ago. Then I had to be delivered of Jezebel and Ahab. I felt as though my best friend Michelle and her husband Vince practiced on me and another man (will not share his name) who was clinically diagnosed with depression and schizophrenia? It was just myself and Michelle counselling him. Michelle also went over the curses over my family and the sins of the father. There is so much more. If I disagreed with her on a particular matter and it resulted in an argument it was a demon. Can I tell you when people are delivered in this group it is not as simple as recognising the demon, for example if they say you have a demon of jezebel, it is not a matter of exorcising jezebel, apparently you need to exorcise all the other demons that come with her, i.e. anger, spite, etc so the process is not as Jesus did it in the Scriptures, Jesus told Legion to leave and it left, It does not say in the Scriptures that Jesus held a person down and bind demons and held them in a person because they did not get rid of the demons that night?? I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. Jesus told his disciples to do what he has done, not add on a few more extras. I love Michelle and always will but I feel she has abandoned me and my family because I have been led by God in a different direction and she has specifically said she does not want me in her family (Setright)(because I have a jezebel spirit and I'm jealous of her) Another point I would like to ask you Does the Holy Spirit co habitate with demons? Apparently this is what Setright believes, I do not believe this.

Hi Benjamin, I would really like to know more about your home church. I have yet settled in a church that offers true love and friendship. I thought I found a family at the last pentecostal church I attended but when I didn't attend for a couple of weeks all the 'we love you' seem to disappear, no one from the church came to see if me and my family were ok. I would really like to ask you questions that I need real clarification on, i.e. speaking in tongues (which is very confronting in pentecostal churches) I know people who want to know Jesus walk in to a pentecostal church see this and walk straight out again. I have been a Christian most of my life, stayed from the path of righteousness and by Gods grace been placed back on that path again. I have laid my life down to the Lord and now try and lead other people to Christ. Would love for you to keep in touch. I also have commented about the Ministry doing exorcisms here in WA, I was apart of that family.

WE also had home Communion as Christ is remembered . We have a home church that is trying to succeed .
The local traditionalists churches tell us we are in rebellion running a home church group.But I say we are not a that God's love is for all no matter where we are meeting.I have had over 30 years in traditional and pentecostal churches where love is lacking and gifts have stopped ,So an Oikos church in needed .God bless Shalom Brian Sutton Waroona

Thanks for replying in full, whoever you may be. In response to your comments, it is indeed biblical to expose false teachers and their theology. Very much so. Jesus and both Old and New Testament saints did it all the time. If people calling themselves Christian teach poor theology, it is dangerous for both them and those listening. Believe me when I say that I do pray for them (and their listeners) and hope they see the error of their ways and teachings. But it is mandated to expose them in order for true repentance to take place. I may not be perfect, but the Bible is clear on what is right and wrong. Thanks for the post! :)

People will acquiesce in quite shocking things with the "right" hoopla and charlatans are endemic and perennial. My faith varies from that of the Home Church but understand that God will know the faithful whatever their denomination. Keep the faith.

Let me say i think properity theology is very popular in the protestant way of thinking.People dont like to talk about it much and i am always reminded of this when i see an expensive car with the personalised numberplate 'Blessed'. The problem is that there is no room for redemptive suffering, or becoming more Christ-like through our sufferings. It is a denial of the reality, and very much a have your cake and eat it approach.The danger then also of thinking that we have earned and even deserve the rewards won for us on the cross.You cannot serve two masters, thats the bottom line.

Did you go by your own perceptions or did you pray (& listen) in the spirit on this one? I see you’ve taken it to the public, but does this really bless them? Have you taken this to God? Do you know the hearts of these pastors? So many references to your own likes and dislikes, and you back it up with scripture? Just be careful on that one mate, even if you’re sure that you’re sure that you’re sure that you’re right.
Look, I think you've taken it the wrong way, I don’t think it’s so easy for any person to judge whether or not anyone has produced great fruits of the spirit, nor what they may or may not have done wrong. I hope you at least show open hearted kindness to those who completely disagree with or disappoint you, cuz I think you're wrong, I think you're missing out cuz you're busy complaining, all I hear in this statement is whinging in the name of Jesus (which is kinda shocking considering what you’re unhappy about). I do understand however, that this is my perception and that I don’t even know you. Thing is, it seems as if you're busy looking down your nose at what they did or didn't do, and perhaps looking down you're nose at them too, but not so busy pointing out what you would have wanted. So WHAT if they did it the wrong way, people have been doing wrong since exiting the garden of Eden, 1 – it’s their thing, 2 - god is still god!
If nothing else, at least back those words up with actions – that’s all I can ask for, but I hope I can help create a better understanding between you and those disappointing Christians. The thing I’ve found most personally satisfying and most (for lack of a better word) correct is to pray for them that they be abundantly blessed, cuz really if you think about it none of us properly know right from wrong, and even with Jesus’ help we falter and behave poorly. When you’ve prayed for them, ‘release them to god’ and forget them. This complaining just dirties up the atmosphere… every time. Sure, sure, let it all out, but let it go - they’re gods job to sort out.

I rather not name names, but it was a couple that embraced the Emergent Church theology. When I contacted the head of Oikos and asked what their stance was on Emergent Church theology (in addition to including links to websites exposing this heresy), I received no response. As such, I could no longer fellowship with those who do not stand against heretical teachings. Thanks for asking and hope that helps!

who were these people from OIKOS? I must admit that I'm a little concerned at this revelation - I've only just stumbled across your blog site recently. They are currently promoting on their website, a couple from the Bruderhof commune in NSW, and it seems to me that at least some of them tend to lean towards the 'Christian mystics' - Thomas Aquinas, (Madame Guyon?) and a spiritual discipline known as "Renovare". When I looked it up, Renovare came across as more of a new age/occultish kind of thing - not the sort of thing that you should find evangelical/pentecostal people promoting.

UPDATE: The sermon appeared to be well received, with several positive comments afterwards. It was a larger group of church members than usual, which was great, as was witnessing the baptism of a new member into the church. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and have been asked to talk at another church in Cardup! God is good... :)
